ABOUT US

Coalhouse is a modern smokehouse and taproom with inspiration from across the pond. We use traditional cooking methods that creates authentic plates of food bursting with flavour.

 

OUR FOOD

Our menu show cases the true mastery of the smoking and barbecue process, whilst introducing new flavour profiles.

Meats are cooked the traditional low and slow way in our one tonne hickory burning, smoker.

 

MEET THE OWNERS

Lewis Spencer, a London native trained in Lyon, France, he built his career around a love for smoked meats and bold,

authentic flavours.

Later founding acclaimed concepts like Hotbox, and Chuck Burgers, Lewis has become a key figure in shaping the UK's barbecue scene.

Coalhouse represents his love of great barbecuing using local and seasonal produce.

 

Jay Rahman, a lifelong restaurateur.

From his early days working in his family’s restaurant in Cheltenham to leading the award-winning Prithvi, Jay has always been driven by the joy of genuine service and connection.His experience and passion bring a refined yet welcoming energy to Coalhouse.

 

Together, Lewis and Jay have created a space to showcase their strengths, authentic barbecue and attentive dining in an amazing new setting.
